Jharkhand's Lokayukta Justice DN Prasad passes due to Corona in AIIMS New Delhi

Ranchi, Jun 29 (UNI) Jharkhand's Lokayukta Justice Dhruv Narayan Prasad passed away on Tuesday battling Coronavirus at AIIMS New Delhi.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren has expressed his grief over the passing away of the Lokayukta. In his condolence message, he said that while working in the judicial field Justice Upadhyay ably carried out various responsibilities. He prayed to the almighty to rest his soul in peace and give strength to the family members to overcome the burden of loss.

Justice DN Prasad who was 67 breathed his last at AIIMS at around 0230hrs. On May 15 he was detected positive for Coronavirus and on May 18 he was admitted to a private hospital in Bariyatu. On May 25 he was admitted to Medica Hospital.

However, as his condition failed to improve he was taken to AIIMS New Delhi on June 11 and kept on a ventilator. He had one more year left in his tenure as the Lokayukta of the state. Justice DN Prasad was set to retire from the post in February 2022.

After retiring as the judge of Jharkhand High Court he was appointed as the Lokayukta of the state.
