MANGALURU: The Mangaluru city police, who have continued their investigation into a drug peddling case involving MDMA, have arrested two more Nigerian nationals from Bengaluru.
The arrests are in connection with two NDPS cases booked at Konaje police station. A total of 235g of MDMA was seized.
City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said on Tuesday that the arrested accused are Ohambobi Paul and Uchechukwu Malachy Elekwachi, both aged 34. They stayed at Bidrahalli in Bengaluru.
So far nine people have been arrested in the case.
Shashi Kumar said Paul and Malachy were also overstaying in the country.
“They had come to India to study, after which they stayed back under the pretext of a garment business. However, they were involved in illegal drug trafficking. They were also in contact with drug suppliers from Mangaluru and Kerala. All the persons arrested so far are inter-connected,” he said.
Paul and Elekwachi have been produced before a court and taken into police custody. “We suspect that there are more people involved in the racket. ACP South sub-division Ranjit Kumar Bandaru will head the investigation. Enough evidence has been collected, and we are pressing for a comprehensive investigation,” said Shashi Kumar.
