Severe storm warning in place; rain and possible thunderstorms expected Tuesday night into Wednesday

Update, 7:25 p.m.: A severe thunderstorm warning is active until 8 p.m. in Greater Cincinnati Tuesday evening, according to the National Weather Service. 

A severe thunderstorm warning is in place for parts of Hamilton, Butler, Clermont and Warren counties until 8 p.m., forecasters said. 

Forecasters said hazards include 60 mph winds and quarter-size hail and warned of minor hail damage to vehicles, as well as potential damage to trees and power lines. 

Locations impacted include Kings Island, Mason, Lebanon, Sharonville, Monroe, Blue Ash, Loveland, Springdale, Reading, Montgomery, Madeira, Deer Park, West Chester, Morrow, Highpoint, Remington, Concorde Hills, Sixteen Mile Stand, Olde West Chester and Four Bridges.

A severe storm moving northeast at 20 mph was spotted over Kings Island around 7:13 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. 

Previous reporting: According to the National Weather Service, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight in the Cincinnati area. 

It's been mostly sunny with a high of 95 degrees Tuesday afternoon, but there is a 40 percent chance of precipitation going into the evening. 

It will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 74 degrees Tuesday night with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. 

Rain is also in the forecast for Wednesday with a 70 percent chance of precipitation  Rain and possibly a thunderstorm is expected Wednesday after 9 a.m. and into the evening. 

The NWS also issued an advisory to parts of central Ohio as heavy storms continue in the region with additional showers near the Miami Valley. Isolated strong to severe winds as well as torrential rainfall rates are expected.

Wednesday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 70. Light west wind. The chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 78. Southwest wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Thursday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. The chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday: A chance of showers after 5 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 79. The chance of precipitation is 30%.
