In a bid to expeditiously complete the construction of the new Assam assembly building, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on June 28 took stock of the progress of the construction and asked PWD (Building) to complete the construction by December this year.
CM Sarma instructed the PWD Building Division to complete the construction by December to enable the winter session of the assembly to take place in the new building.
Reviewing the remaining construction work, at the conference hall of the speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly, chief minister Sarma while taking a minute and pragmatic view of the remaining works, asked commissioner PWD (Building) Raj Chakrabarty to complete the construction of the Assam assembly building by December.
Sarma also asked Chakraborty to revisit the changes to be brought in with regard to the interiors and seek administrative approvals for expeditious completion of works on a war footing.
He also asked the commissioner to make all arrangements for the new assembly building to conduct the winter session of the assembly in December.
Speaker Biswajit Daimary, deputy speaker Numal Momin and a host of officials were present during the meeting.
