FoodShare Toronto and over 70 other organizations calling on influential website to require salary information to advance equity

WHAT: FoodShare Toronto will announce organizational endorsements for their open letter to Charity Village on June 29. Together they are asking the job posting website to require that employers using their platform indicate salary and benefits information for each job they post, and committing to not use the platform until the change is made.

The hashtag #ShowTheSalary has been used in Canada, the US and the UK by individuals and organizations advocating for pay transparency

WHY: Charity Village has been asked privately to make this change many times. FoodShare is making this conversation public and has committed to no longer using the platform until the change is made. Sharing compensation information is an equity issue. Publicizing pay ranges is widely recommended as one way to mitigate the racial and gender bias that shows up in salary negotiations.
