FoodShare Toronto & over 70 other organizations calling on job website to require salary information to advance equity

The hashtag #ShowTheSalary has been used in Canada, the US and the UK by individuals and organizations advocating for pay transparency

Full letter: https://foodshare.net/timeline/a-call-for-compensation-info-on-job-posts/

WHO: FoodShare Toronto with over 70 organizations and 200 individual signatories from across Canada

WHEN: Tuesday June 29 at 10am

WHERE: Online at foodshare.net and Twitter @FoodShareTO

WHY: Charity Village has been asked privately to make this change many times. FoodShare is making this conversation public and has committed to no longer using the platform until the change is made. Sharing compensation information is an equity issue. Publicizing pay ranges is widely recommended as one way to mitigate the racial and gender bias that shows up in salary negotiations. Charity Village's own website includes an article titled: "In everyone's best interest: why you should disclose salary in your job postings.
