Pilgrim from Jharkhand dies in road accident in Bengal

Kolkata, Jun 28 (UNI) A pilgrim returning home to Jharkhand after offering puja at the Tarapith temple was killed today and five others were wound, two of them critically, when their four-wheeler in which they were travelling hit a roadside tree near Sunichua village on the Rampurhat-Dumka Road on the Birbhum-Jharkhand border.
The deceased was identified as Akhil Singh, 28, a resident of Bokaro.
The injured persons have been evacuated to the Rampurhat Medical College Hospital where the condition of the two was stated to be grievous.
The accident happened early this morning as the driver lost control of his vehicle and hit the roadside tree.
The pilgrims were returning to Bokaro in Jharkhand.
The Tarapith temple, one of the Shakti Peethas of the Goddess Kali was reopened middle of this month for the devotees after months of shutting down for the visitors due to the pandemic.
