Srinagar, Jun 28 (UNI) Strongly condemning the killing of an off-duty Special Police Officer (SPO), his wife and daughter in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, CPI(M) senior leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami on Monday said killing unarmed people cannot be justified in any way.
In a statement here, Mr Tarigami said killing innocents, including women, is highly condemnable and such incidents have no place in the civilized world. Attacking civilians by the combatants is an act of cowardice and must be condemned by all in one voice, he said.
Spokesperson of the Peoples Alliance of Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) Tarigami said cycles of violence have been going on in Kashmir for the last more than three decades. But what has been achieved so far? Whom does violence suit?, he asked.
He said there is a need to ponder over the persistent violence and society must come out and express itself against such brutal acts of violence.
He expressed his deeply felt condolence with the bereaved family.
