Thane: Two held for robbing siblings at Parsik tunnel

THANE: A government railway police (GRP) in Thane arrested two persons for looting passengers near Parsik tunnel between Mumbra-Kalwa railway station of Central Railway on Thursday.
The police said that the arrested accused are Sameer Khan (23) and Bablu Goud aka Chennai (22) resident of Bhaskar Nagar area of Kalwa.
The police said that they have seized the stolen booty worth Rs 43,280 from the duo, who are likely to be suspected in similar crime across the railway line and the police said they are investigating the same.
A police officer informed that the victim, Puja Mohite, a resident of Pune, along with her brother were travelling towards Thane on June 24 at around 7am on the Kova-LTT Express.
Puja's mobile fell off the train. After that, Puja and her brother got down at Thane railway station. Both of them caught the slow suburban train heading towards Kalyan and got off at Kalwa railway station.
After that, they went on the fast tracks and started searching for the mobile on foot in Parsik tunnel. But the two accused waylaid them and threatened to kill them and robbed them of the brother's mobile phone as well as other jewellery. After the incident, the victim came back to Thane railway station. they registered an offence with the Thane GRP.
Based on this information and the vague description, the police launched the manhunt and nabbed the duo who confessed the crime and seized the stolen booty from their possession.
