South West monsoon to hit in North india in next 6-7 days

Pune, June 28 (UNI): Prevailing meteorological conditions, large scale atmospheric features and the forecast wind pattern by dynamical models suggest that no favourable conditions are likely to develop for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into remaining parts of Rajasthan, west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab during next 6-7 days.

Day temperatures were above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Punjab, Vidarbha, Kerala and Mahe; at isolated places over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Assam, Meghalaya and Gangetic West Bengal; at isolated places over east Rajasthan, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra and Kutch. They were appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) at many places over north interior Karnataka and Rayalseema; at isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at many places over Telangana, Madhya Maharashtra, south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal; at a few places over Andaman, Nicobar Islands; at isolated places over east Uttar Pradesh and near normal over rest parts of the country. The highest maximum temperature of 41.8°C was reported at Phalodi (west Rajasthan).

Thunderstorm or Hailstorm observed (from 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0830 hours IST of today): Thunderstorm at isolated places over east Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Konkan, Goa, Assam, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Lakshadweep, West Bengal and Sikkim.

The southwest Monsoon has been active over Assam, Meghalaya, Madhya Maharashtra and Telangana. It has been subdued over Jharkhand, west Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh and east Madhya Pradesh.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Assam and Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Vidarbha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana, north Interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep and at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal and Chhattisgarh and at a few places in Odisha, Bihar, west Madhya Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat state, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, coastal Karnataka, south interior Karnataka; Kerala and Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at isolated places in Jharkhand, east Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, west Rajasthan, east Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. Mainly dry weather has prevailed in west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
