Telangana Guv unveils statue of P.V.Narasimha Rao in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Jun 28 (UNI) A 26-feet bronze statue of former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao was unveiled by Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan at a well-attended function in Necklace Road here, now rechristened as PV Marg, on Monday.

Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao was among the large number of dignitaries who attended the function which marks the culmination of the year-long PVNR Centenary celebrations.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister announced that P.V.Narasimha Rao chair would be established in Kakatiya University.

Describing Narasimha Rao as a person well-versed in many languages, Mr Rao credited the

late Prime Minister for starting Navodhaya and Gurukul schools.

He said that PVNR, who headed a minority government at the Centre, had completed its full term.

Recalling the noble qualities of the head and heart of PVNR, the Chief Minister said that the late Prime Minister had donated his 600 acres of land to the people.

Dr Tamilisai said that she was happy to unveil the statue of PVNR whose birth centenary was a great festival.

Police imposed traffic restrictions and diversion in view of the unveiling ceremony.
