The Goodyear
Tire & Rubber Company has announced the launch of Goodyear SightLine which
is the first tire intelligence solution for cargo van fleets. Goodyear is the
world's largest tire companies with 72,000 employees in 23 countries. Goodyear
SightLine will offer safe, reliable, and seamless mobility for all vehicles
mainly cargo vans that are used in construction, the field service, and
last-mile delivery industries. It also uses sensors coded with the cloud-based
algorithms for proper communication with the fleet operators.
According to
Chris Helsel, Senior vice president, Global Operations and Chief Technology
Officer, Goodyear SightLine’s tire intelligence will monitor the health of the
tire. He also said that this artificial intelligence solution understands the
tyres well and offers insights to communicate in case the tyre needs
replacement or service.
Goodyear’s
maintenance technologies also address issues that the drivers and fleet
managers face like predicting breakdowns, monitoring tire pressure, minimizing
downtime, more cost-efficient mobility, and wear for enhanced safety.
The company has
taken billions of test miles on tire solutions offered by Goodyear SightLine
with the help of pilot programs. The goal of the company is to have tire
intelligence in all new products by 2027.
Also, it is expected that the Goodyear SightLine technology will not only
provide feedback on the tire in the future but also offer feedback on road
conditions, autonomous mobility, and enable connectivity. With the initial
testing, it is observed that Goodyear SightLine technology will be integrated
into a vehicle’s control system which will reduce distance loss by 30%.
By the end of
this year, Goodyear SightLine will also be added to the original equipment
customers and emerging fleet providers.
