Kolkata: Amidst confusion of continuity of the Left Front- Congress and Indian Secular Front’s alliance, senior Congress leader Abdul Mannan on Sunday visited Furfura Serif cleric Abbas Siddiqui.

After meeting with Abbas, Mannan said that he isn’t aware that the alliance is broken as no communication came to him from the Central leaderships.

“The Central leadership had called for the alliance and someone from state saying that the alliance is broken doesn’t really bother me. I will abide to all instructions given by the Central leaderships,” stated Mannan.

Notably, last week West Bengal Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury while blaming ISF for the poll debacle had stated that their alliance was with Left Front and not ISF. Incidentally, several allied parties of the CPI (M) earlier this week had sent letter to CPI (M) headquarter in Kolkata to discontinue their alliance with ISF during upcoming bypoll and civic polls as according to them the poll debacle of the Left Front was mainly because of including ISF in the alliance.

Speaking about Mannan’s visit with Abbas, Adhir said that he is not aware of who is visiting whom.

Meanwhile, ISF MLA Naushad Siddiqui claimed that they will think of breaking the alliance only if the Congress wants it to.

“Let the Congress decide first and after that we will decide on the alliance. If ever we feel that ideologically ISF and Congress is getting apart then ISF will break the alliance”, stated Naushad.
