Thane, Jun 27 (UNI) The Thane Railway police have arrested two youths from Kalwa on the charge of allegedly robbing passengers near Parsik tunnel between Mumbra-Kalwa stations.
On Thursday, while the victim woman was travelling with her brother in the Kova Express train from Pune to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, her mobile phone fell down on the tracks between Mumbra and Kalwa.
As she got down from the train along with her brother and went in search of the mobile phone towards the Parsik tunnel, the duo accosted them, threatened them and robbed them of their belongings including jewellery, mobile phones, etc., collectively worth Rs 43,000, police said.
After registration of an offence with the Thane Railway police, police launched an investigation into the matter and nabbed the duo from the slum colony in Kalwa.
They were identified as Sameer Khan (23) and Bablu Goud alias Chennai (22), both residents of Bhaskar Nagar area of Kalwa.
Police have also recovered the entire booty from the duo.
Further investigation was underway, sources added.
