'Batwoman' Season 3: Will There Be Another Season?
Batwoman has had a dramatic year, with Javicia Leslie taking over from Ruby Rose in the title role at the start of Season 2 in January. Ahead of the season finale on the evening of Sunday, June 27, fans are wondering whether the show will return—and whether it will replace the lead again.
Will there be another season of 'Batwoman'?
The future of Batwoman is secured for now. In February, the CW ordered a third season of the DC Comics show.
It was one of 12 shows renewed at the time, with All American, Charmed, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Dynasty, The Flash, In the Dark, Legacies, Nancy Drew, Riverdale, Roswell New Mexico and Walker also being recommissioned.
Leslie will return as Ryan Wilder/Batwoman in Season 3—but there will be one big change for the show. It currently airs on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT. However, in fall 2021 its slot is being taken by the CW's Legends of the Hidden Temple reboot.
Batwoman and its Sunday night sister Legends of Tomorrow are moving to Wednesdays, with Batwoman airing at 9 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. CT. Both DC shows will premiere on Wednesday, October 13.
WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Batwoman Season 2
Although the events of Batwoman Season 3 are likely to depend on what happens in the Season 2 finale, recent developments may be setting up a major villain from Batman history to take on Batwoman.
Earlier in the second season, it was revealed that the venom that turned Bane into a super-strong monster exists in this universe, with a recent trailer suggesting that this serum will be injected into Russell Tavaroff (played by Jesse Hutch). Tavaroff is known as Menace in the comics, but Batwoman may be in effect turning him into the new Bane.

The finale is also set to show Luke Fox (Camrus Johnson) becoming Batwing, suggesting that the roster of Batman characters is set to grow in Season 3.
Johnson's character will become Batwoman's sidekick in the next season. "But before Luke Fox can fully embrace the awesome and powerful nature of his super-suit," says the CW's character description, "he must first overcome his own personal demons."
"This character couldn't come out of nowhere," showrunner Caroline Dries said to Entertainment Weekly. "We built this character from a deeply personal and complicated Luke story that we began setting up in Season 1, and I look forward to unfolding it over the course of Season 3."
The latest five episodes of Batwoman are streaming on the CW website and app. Season 1 is streaming on HBO Max, which will get Season 2 soon.
