After their successful protest on Friday, the government doctors have decided to observe strike on Monday also against the 6th Pay Commission’s recommendations and implementation.
Besides, the doctors, who are protesting the de-linking of non-practicing allowance from the basic pay, will stop medico-legal work. The strike call has been given by the Joint Punjab Government Doctors Coordination Committee, which has members, including Punjab Civil Medical Services Association, Punjab State Veterinary Officers Association, Punjab Medical Teachers Association, Rural Medical Officers Association, Punjab Dental Medical Officers Association and Punjab Ayurveda Officers Association.
Dr Gagandeep Singh Shergill, senior vice-president, PCMSA, said OPDs across the state would remained suspended even on Monday. Apart from that they will protest at various places as well.
Dr Deepinder Bhasin, president, Rural Medical Officers Association said the government must accept the genuine demands of doctors in public interest otherwise the agitation would be intensified.
