Kolkata: At a time when Indian Secular Front (ISF) MLA Naushad Siddiqui was arrested from demonstrating in front of Gandhi statue without permission, a cadre from Left Front farmer wing rendered his support over the arrest.

Notably, Naushad was agitating against the farm laws introduced by the BJP led Central government and also on the post-poll violence issue.

The Left Front cadre said that neither ISF has farmers' wing nor did ISF inform the Left Front over such an agitation program.

“If the police had arrested him it is good as the Indian Secular Front doesn’t have any farmers’ wing and neither had they informed anyone about their program,” said the Left Front cadre on anonymity.

Incidentally, after West Bengal Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury last week claimed that they had allied with only Left Front and not ISF, several allied parties of the CPI (M) earlier this week had sent letter to CPI (M) headquarter in Kolkata to discontinue their alliance with ISF during upcoming bypoll and civic polls as according to them the poll debacle of the Left Front was mainly because of including ISF in the alliance.

According to Left Front sources a closed door meeting was held earlier this week where the pros and the cons of inclusion of ISF were discussed. Several senior party leaders are of the mind that inclusion of ISF had distanced the traditional Left Front from the party.
