Police constable ransacked ICU ward in search of the computer operator

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh: A police man created ruckus at Katni district hospital late on Friday night. He also allegedly assaulted a hospital staffer and misbehaved with female nurses.

The hospital administration has lodged a complaint against the constable at Kotwali police station. Demanding arrest of accused police constable, the nursing staff and other employees of the hospital went on strike on Monday morning, although they later returned to work after hospital administration assured of safety.

Police constable Satish Kumar Singh is posted at Kotwali police station of the town. Singh, who was suffering from loose motions and vomiting, went to the hospital. The duty doctor suggested that he be admitted for observation.

When OPD staff asked the constable to pay fee, he slapped the computer operator Surendra Singh. Singh later ran to ICU to save himself. The constable followed him and broke open ICU gate. He also turned ICU beds down.

Some female staff deployed in ICU tried to intervene, the constable also misbehaved with them. He also threatened the medical staff with dire consequences.

Civil Surgeon Dr Yashvant Verma said he has informed the district collector and superintendent of police (SP) about the incident. “A complaint has also been filed at Kotwali police station. The senior officials have assured safety and security of the hospital,” he said.

Kotwali police station incharge, Vijay Vishwakarma said that a probe was being carried out on complaint lodged by hospital administration and a case would be registered soon.
