Gurdaspur, June 25

A Behrampur-based doctor was among three persons murdered over the past 24 hours here.

SSP Nanak Singh said last night, Mohit Nanda, an Ayurveda physician, was hacked to death following suspected enmity with two suspects — Amandeep Singh and Lakhwinder Lucky — over financial dealings.

The SSP said based on certain clues, the police had identified some hideouts of the suspects. “We will arrest them by tomorrow. Sharp weapons were used in the crime,” he said.

In another incident, two persons — Sham Lal (40) and Stephen (30) — were done to death by unidentified persons at Fajupur village, falling in the jurisdiction of the Dhariwal police station.

An FIR under Section 302 (murder) has been registered against unidentified persons at the Dhariwal police station. “I have formed three teams which are raiding possible hideouts of the accused,” said the SSP. — TNS
