According to statistics provided by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in 2020, the Pakistan army has approximately 5,60,000 active duty personnel, supported by the Army Reserves and National Guard which effectively making it the 15th army in the world in terms of manpower. Now we will let you know about Pakistan’s military weapons, soldiers, marines, and air force.

Which weapons Pakistan is willing to buy?

The Pakistan Army’s Special Service Group of the SSG is looking for new weapons. This group supports terrorists in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir(POK) in their attacks on the Indian border. The weapons that the group is looking to buy. Those are:

  1. The M4A1 Colt assault rifle, which is an improved version of the M4 and is used by the U.S special forces. the M4 is a regular with most units of the US Army.
  2. The AN/PVS-14 monocular night vision device is used not only by the US armed force but also it is NATO allies.
  3. ATPIAL/AN/PEQ-15 or the Advanced Target Pointer Illuminator Aiming Light.
  4. Thermal imaging stand-alone sights for the m-4 assault rifles. This is used for night fighting.
  5. The Minimi or the M249 light machine gun. It has been a mainstay of the American armed forces personnel for over two decades.
  6. The Glock-19 9mm pistol, Austrian-made and widely in use all over the world.
  7. Binoculars using thermal imaging.

Therefore, the SSG is focusing on night fighting weapons.

Things to know about Pakistan Army

  1. The Presidential Elections held in 1965 enforced a presidential system of government that was dominated by a Pakistan Army General.
  2. Other than fighting wars, Pakistan armed forces are involved in multiple activities such as building roads, catching electricity thieves, running commercial ventures, weeding out corruption, and running the state.
  3. The bulk of the military personnel come from the province of Punjab.
  4. The Pakistan Military is a voluntary service compromising 6,20,000 personnel. The army is the largest service, with 5,50,000 personnel. This is followed by the Pakistan air force with 45,000 personnel. Also, the Pakistan Navy with a 25,000 workforce.
  5. The Pakistan army welfare trust was established in 1971 with a seed funding of Rs 7,00,000. The foundation’s operation expanded into significant sectors of the economy, resulting in a balance sheet of Rs 17.45 billion by the end of the financial year 2001.
  6. The four foundations such as Fauji Foundation, Army Welfare Trust, Shaheen Foundation and Bahria Foundation runs 100 independent projects which include heavy manufacturing industries such as cement, fertilizer and cereal production.

Pakistan Marines

This country’s marines is an expeditionary and naval welfare uniform service branch of Pakistan Armed Forces that consist of active-duty high-ranking officers and personnel of the Pakistan Navy. The Pakistan Marines are responsible for providing force projection from the sea, using the mobility of the Pakistan Navy to rapidly deliver combined-arms task forces. in a military leadership structure, the Marines are the component of the Pakistan Navy, often working closely with the Navy for training, executing expeditionary operations and logistics purposes. The Marines are an elite special operations force similar to the United States Marine Corps (USMC) and the United Kingdom’s Royal Marines.

Pakistan Air Force

The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has completed the multinational air exercises Aces Meet 2021-1 at PAF base Mushaf. The two-week-long exercise saw active participation from the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) and the United States Air Force (USAF). PAF Base Mushaf air commodore Ali Naeem Zahoor said the exercise provided an opportunity to learn via ‘mutual sharing of experiences.’  Members of PAK, RSAF, and USAF special forces performed several Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) missions during the exercise. As per the Pakistan radio, Pakistan, Bahrain, Egypt and Jordan air forces acted as observers for the drill. The exercise included the employment of fighter jets from the air forces of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, as well as airborne early warning and control aircraft and military satellites. The deployed assets helped improve coordination and harmony between the ground elements and air component.
