Tokyo Olympics: Sajan Prakash becomes first Indian swimmer to qualify for Olympics with ‘A’ cut- Sajan Prakash has qualified for Tokyo Olympics with A cut in 200m Butterfly. He is the first Indian swimmer to qualify for Olympics through the Olympics qualifying system. He clocked in 1:56:38 in Men’s 200m Butterfly to qualify for Tokyo Olympics. The qualifying standard was 1:56.48.

“Historic moment in Indian Swimming !!! Sajan Prakash breaks the glass ceiling clocks 1:56.38 an Olympic qualification time. CONGRATULATIONS,” Swimming Federation of India wrote on Twitter.

Earlier on Friday, Srihari Nataraj had come close to achieving the feat. He had won the race in 53.9 sec, 0.04 sec short of qualifying standards for the Tokyo Games. Sajan’s qualification means 20-year-old is set to miss out on an Olympic berth.
