Turbhe police arrested a 46-year-old man, a native of Nepal for allegedly carrying a firearm in Turbhe on Friday night. Police said that the man might have come to sell the weapon in the area.

A constable attached to Turbhe police received information that the man was coming to Turbhe with a firearm. Based on the tip-off, the police laid a trap and caught him in Ambedkar Nagar around 11.30 pm. The man has been identified as Rajkumar Tulbahadur Thapa.

According to police, he was caught near a company that was shut for the past several years. When he was frisked, the police found a country-made pistol. After which, he was arrested.

Police said that Thapa stayed at a rented house at Turbhe and he is a native of Tanahu district in Nepal. He did various odd jobs to earn his livelihood.

“We are now trying to find out from where he got the pistol and what was he planning to do with it. We have booked him under sections 3 and 25 of the Indian Arms Act,” said a police officer from Turbhe police station.
