Los Angeles Dodgers owners Mark Walter and Todd Boehly are buying the 27% stake of the Los Angeles Lakers being sold by Anschutz Corp. Chairman Philip Anschutz, sports business publication Sportico reported, citing five people with direct knowledge of the matter.

The deal values the Lakers at about $5 billion, the publication reported, citing two of the people, who weren’t identified.

Anschutz’s stake comes with the right of first refusal to buy any additional shares of last year’s NBA championship team that come to market, Sportico said. That will transfer to Boehly and Walter, it said, citing one of the people.

The transaction is expected to close in early July and would need the approval of the NBA Board of Governors, it added.

Anschutz’s stake in the Lakers is the second-largest after the Buss family. The 81-year-old has a net worth of $15.8 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
