New Delhi, June 24

Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Thursday said the party must play an active role in ensuring full vaccination coverage besides gearing up for a probable third wave.

Addressing a virtual meeting of the AICC general secretaries and state in-charges here today, Sonia said, “At the national level, the daily rate of vaccination has to treble so that 75 per cent of our population gets fully vaccinated by year-end. No doubt, this is dependent entirely on adequacy of vaccine supply.”

“We have to ensure that vaccine registration takes place, vaccine hesitancy wherever evident is overcome and vaccine wastage minimised,” she said amid BJP’s repeated accusations that the Congress is promoting vaccine hesitancy. — TNS
