Award-Winning Documentary ‘Kotpad Weaving’ is now available on MX Player

 

Bhubaneswar: Directed by Biswanath Rath and produced by PSBT, the award-winning English documentary ‘Kotpad Weaving: The Story of a Race Against Time’ is now available on renowned video platform MX Player. 

It was first telecasted on 24th March 2018 and since then the documentary has won 6 awards and was screened in 33 international film festivals. In Jan 2021, the film won the title of “OUTSTANDING AWARD” in the MEIHODO International Youth Visual Media Festival, Japan, and the “BEST INDIAN FILM AWARD” in Sardar Balhavbhai Patel International Film Festival, Surat.

It was premiered on Amazon Prime and is perhaps the first Odia documentary in the entire history to be presented on an OTT platform and currently, on 23rd June 2021, it was telecasted on MX PLAYER.

Talking about the premiere on MX Player, Writer-Director Biswanath says, “We are simply thrilled about this launch. MX Player is an International brand having over 280 million users. Along with Doc ‘Kotpad Weaving, acclaimed film company BnR Films’ three other Award-winning Short films ‘Ravaiyaa’, ‘Desh Dosti Etc’ and ‘Kar Bhalaa’ have also premiered on MX Player.

‘Kotpad Weaving: The Story of a Race Against Time’ has created awareness on Kotpad Handloom; the unique, internationally acclaimed, timeless tribal textile tradition from Koraput district (Odisha). The film is a tribute to the rich textile tradition practiced by the Mirgan Community in Kotpad town since time hitherto unknown. The film has been screened and hugely appreciated in the USA, UK, Italy, Greece, Australia, and many other countries at various film festivals.
