TNPL 2021: Tamil Nadu Premier League set to take place in July and August- The upcoming fifth edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) will take place in July-August. The T20 tournament will be a closed-door affair with Chennai as host of 32 games. Tirunelveli, Dindigul, Coimbatore, and Salem are likely to host the eight-team event. The tentative date for the TNPL is from July 19 to August 15.
“We are planning three phases for the league. We intend to start the league in Chennai because the Covid cases are down in the city. Basing on the government’s approval, the matches will be held in two other venues and we will come back to Chennai for the final,” the TNPL official told Cricbuzz.
An official announcement on schedule and venue will be confirmed in next 48 hours.

The move comes after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in April allowed the state associations to conduct IPL on condition that it doesn’t clash with the IPL 2021.
Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) decided not to hold the tournament amid second wave of COVID-19. Apart from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Saurashtra had also sought permission.
