ET BureauV.Raghunandan has been appointed as secretary for the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai).
"The undersigned is directed to refer to TRAI's letter...on the subject mentioned above, and to convey the approval of the Competent Authority for appointment of ... Varthakavi Raghunandan ...as Secretary in TRAI on deputation on foreign service terms basis initially for a period of two years from the date of assumption of charge of the post," said the regulator in a statement on Friday.
Raghunandan was working as a deputy director general at the Department of Telecommunications. He takes over from Sunil Kumar Gupta, who was granted a two-month extension till May 31, 2021, to continue as a secretary at the sector regulator in March this year.
Gupta is now appointed as a senior deputy director general at the office of Director General - Telecom in the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), and will oversee all field units under the 22 Licensed Service Areas (LSA).
