Warzone best Assault Rifles: What is the best Assault Rifle in Warzone?
Say hello to our tier list.
The best assault rifles in Warzone are always making plenty of noise in the meta, and for good reason - as they continue to be the primary choice for many due to their sheer firepower.
Devastating at both close and long range, as well as versatile enough adapt to different situations with ease, this weapon category continues to reign in popularity and will likely remain as is for the foreseeable future.
That being said, while there is an array of options to choose from, not all of them are particularly striking. Several assault rifles have been nerfed over time and with the addition of new members to the roster in recent seasons, it's hard to know exactly what the best options are.

Warzone best Assault Rifle tier list
Ever since Black Ops: Cold War weapons were integrated to Warzone, most of the viable options that came from Modern Warfare were pushed down the ladder.
Our ranking focuses primarily on assault rifles from the first group, as they have been the ones developer Raven has been focusing on recently.

That being said, there are three Modern Warfare weapons in our tier list which continue to be popular, and tend to be exempt from heavy balance changes. If you are curious about how to obtain them if you don't own the game, don't fret, as they are part of Warzone by default - some will require a challenge to unlock, or you can opt to purchase a blueprint on the store.
It's worth noting that while we're ranking the following weapons, they all stand out for a reason, and that it comes to down to preference - you can go for the highest ranked option or find an alternative that maybe you weren't considering before to vary your loadouts and experiment with new options.

Best Assault Rifles in Warzone
Now that the rank has been settled, let's dive into each one of the contenders in detail from most to least recommended, as well as looking into the loadouts you will want to pursue to make the most of each weapon's potential.
CR-56 AMAX
The CR-56 AMAX in Warzone is one of the most popular assault rifles in the game. Packed with a daunting damage output and low time to kill, the CR-56 AMAX is a well known assault rifle in Warzone.

Despite undergoing through several nerfs by developer Raven throughout Season 3, this weapon is still the top choice for many. It was a low time to kill thanks to its high fire rate, a decent recoil, and only a couple downsides that can be compensated with the right attachments.
Whether or not the weapon remains on first place throughout yet another season remains to be seen. But until then, the nerfs haven't been enough to shake its position - but they have made other weapons far more viable in return.
If you want to get the most out of it, our best CR-56 AMAX loadout recommendation can help.
FARA 83
The FARA 83 in Warzone has regained its popularity after the balance update in Season 3. It was slightly nerfed back then, but it still remains as a viable assault rifle that has lots to offer.

First, it can have up to 60 rounds in its magazine, which is an improvement over the AMAX, for example, which carries 45 rounds instead. It has more than a decent recoil, good time to kill, and just overall cool stats that make it a stand out amidst many others.
If you're interested in knowing what the right attachments for this weapon are, visit our FARA 83 loadout page for all the details.
AK-47 - Cold War
The AK-47 in Warzone had lost popularity over time due to its fairly odd recoil, but the balance updates throughout Season 3 finally adjusted it, granting the weapon a long-awaited return to the top leagues.

This assault rifle is devastating across short to long ranges, depending on the attachments that you go for. Thanks to its low time to kill that is no longer affected by the aforementioned unfair recoil, and a particularly speedy nature compared to similar weapons, you can't go wrong with it.
This assault rifle is one of the best options in the roster to conquer in Warzone. If you want to learn more about the best attachments for it, we recommend visiting our AK-47 loadout page.
FFAR 1
The FFAR 1 in Warzone is an excellent assault rifle, providing a fast fire rate with equally fast reloading speeds.

Being one of the easiest to use, the right loadout can even make it feel more akin to an SMG than an assault rifle. This means it becomes faster and lighter all around, while still maintaining all its assault rifle capabilities.
This is a great option if you're looking for a snappy rifle to use - if you decide to give it a chance, make sure to read our FFAR 1 loadout page to find the right attachments.
XM4
The XM4 is an often underlooked but still powerful assault rifle from Black Ops: Cold War. Its area of expertise lies within the close to medium range, and it can carry up to a 60 round mag, which is a nice bonus to have.

It might be the base assault rifle, but don't let this dissuade you from using the XM4. It serves a multi-purpose and its strengths make it viable in most situations.
C58
The C58 was introduced at the start of Season 4 as an interesting competitor in its field. It has a slower rate of fire compared to others in this tier list, but it's compensated by tonnes of damage and a fairly decent recoil.

While you might want to go for a different option if you'd like a rifle that feels more like an SMG with the right loadout, the C58 is all about mid to long distances. Nerfs might change its positioning in the future, but as it stands, you should definitely give it a try.
If you're interested in knowing what the right attachments for this weapon are, make sure to visit our C58 loadout page for all the details.
M4A1
As for the second Modern Warfare weapon, the M4A1 continues to be a viable option for Warzone. The time to kill isn't as low as the aforementioned options, but it compensates it with a fairly decent damage at long range with great handling to support it.

Attachments may vary its use considerably, depending on the build you have in mind for it, but you can even use the No Stock option which is rare to see in Cold War weapons, yet grants a hefty benefit to the M4A1.
If you're interested in knowing what the right attachments for this weapon are, make sure to visit our M4A1 loadout page for all the details.
RAM-7
The third Modern Warfare weapon of the list is the RAM-7. It carries a great time to kill and a 50 round magazine, with the only caveat that it can't be hard to get used to its recoil.

If you're looking for an assault rifle that exceeds at long range, this one in particular can be tricky to master. But if you're only worried about short to mid distances, it's well worth the try.
Krig 6
The Krig 6 is a rapid-fire assault rifle, and should be generally regarded as one of the better close to medium-range assault rifles Warzone.

This weapon hasn't been the most popular of the bunch for a long period of time, but that doesn't mean you should completely ignore it. While optics are usually up for preference, the Krig 6 benefits from one, and it's vital to enhance its decent bullet velocity and range. Just be mindful of its recoil when looking at attachments!
If you're interested in knowing what the right attachments for this weapon are, make sure to visit our Krig 6 loadout page for all the details.
Groza
As we get close to the bottom of the tier list, we found ourselves with the Groza. Nerfs over time have pushed the weapon down the ladder, but it still maintains a great damage that shouldn't be overlooked.

There are better options of course, but if you're looking for different assault rifle that can be built up for close distances with the right attachments, the Groza can still hold its ground.
QBZ-83
Last but not least, the QBZ-83 received several buffs in Season 3, increasing its already interesting mobility as well as small changes to overall damage.

The biggest downsides of this assault rifle come down to how hard it can be to control at times, compared to others from the Black Ops: Cold War roster, as well as time to kill that would benefit from being lower. But if you're looking for a weapon that while different is still not only viable, but also has a decent recoil, don't overlook this weapon.
