Neemuch: Condemning attack on Congress leader Dinesh Rathore, scores of Congress party workers staged protest at Manasa police station demanding immediate arrest of attackers.
In Neemuch, party leaders submitted memorandum to the superintendent of police Suraj Kumar demanding removal of Manasa police station in-charge KL Dangi.
They warned that if their demands not met within a timeframe, they will launch an agitation.
Some unidentified persons attacked Dinesh Rathore on Thursday evening, leaving him with serious injuries. The accused also allegedly snatched money and mobile phone from Rathore.
Acting president of District Congress Om Diwan and other leaders condemned attack on Rathore saying such violence has no place in a democracy. While protesting outside Manasa police station, Congress party workers raised slogans against police station in-charge KL Dangi and BJP local MLA Madhav Maru. Congress workers alleged that Maruís supporters are behind the attack on Rathore.
When contacted Maru said that Rathore abused and used derogatory remark against BJP's mandal general secretary Mahavir Virwal as a result of that, they got into a scuffle. Rathod fell on the ground and got himself injured, he added.
Maru added that Congress party workers are trying to politicise the issue and are unnecessarily dragging my name.
BJP MLA added that an application has been submitted to the sub-divisional officer ñ police to investigate the matter impartially and take action against the culprits.
When contacted Neemuch SP Suraj Kumar Verma said that applications have come from both sides and a probe is on.
