Black fungus claims 237 lives in AP; 3,148 cases registered

Vijayawada, June 25 (UNI) The black fungus has claimed the lives of 237 patients in Andhra Pradesh so far while 1,095 surgeries were performed to the patients.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy held a review meeting with the officials concerned on the Covid-19 situation. The officials apprised the Chief Minister that so far 3,148 black fungus cases had been registered and 237 patients had died of the disease.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure that all the medicines being given to the patients in the government hospitals and ESI hospitals should be GMP and WHO standards. He directed the officials to lay special focus on the maintenance of medical equipment, and also asked them to prepare a special SOP.
He asked the officials to appoint an officer especially to monitor the attendance of medical staff, providing food to the patients and sanitation management in the government hospitals.
The officials explained to the Chief Minister that the registering of Covid new cases had fallen below 50,000 and at the same time the recovery rate had gone up to 96.67.
The officials informed the Chief Minister that 134 oxygen (PSO) plants were being set up in the state. The setting up of 97 plants would be completed by September, 2021, they told the Chief Minister, adding that a generator would be installed in the hospitals, which have more than 50 beds.
The officials informed the Chief Minister the status of construction of 16 new medical colleges and upgrading of 11 old medical colleges. Health minister Alla Kalikrishna Srinivas, Chief Secretary Adityanath Das, DGP Gautham Sawang and Covid Command Control chairperson Dr.K S Jawagar Reddy were among who were present.
