PARIS -- Renault Group has appointed Miles Nuernberger, design director at Aston Martin, as head of design at the low-cost Dacia brand, replacing Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, who left after six months to become head of design at Alfa Romeo.
Nuernberger was named design director at Renault's new Dacia and Lada business unit, where he will serve on the management committee under unit CEO Denis Le Vot. He will report to Renault corporate design director Laurens van den Acker.
"Miles is a renowned designer who has inspired many with his work at Aston Martin," van den Acker said in a statement on Friday. "His experience and passion for building strong brands through design will be a great asset for Dacia and help us project Dacia into the future."
Nuernberger, a graduate of Coventry University in England, started his automotive career at Ford Motor's Lincoln brand, and later worked for Citroen's exterior design team.
He joined Aston Martin in 2008 in exterior design, and was appointed design director in 2018. He was in charge of design for the Aston Martin DBX, the brand's first SUV, as well as the Lagonda brand relaunch, including the Vision sedan and SUV concepts.
