YAMUNANAGAR: A 42-year-old undertrial prisoner, who was facing murder charges, allegedly committed suicide by hanging from a tree inside Haryana's Yamunanagar district jail at Jagadhri on Thursday. The deceased — identified Zareef Mohammad of Bibipur village in Yamunanagar district — had been lodged in Jagadhri jail since March 16. Zareef is survived by five daughters and a wife, Jagadhri city police station house officer inspector, Suresh Kumar said. The family members of the deceased alleged that even inside the jail premises there is a concern over prisoners' safety.
