Nagpur: Mayor
Dayashankar Tiwari on Thursday directed the public works department (PWD) to demolish the compound wall of housing schemes near Ajni Metro station and along double-decker flyover on
Wardha road.
Due to construction of the double-decker bridge comprising Metro Rail route and flyover, the existing road had become narrow. The NMC was supposed to acquire some portion of private land of 34 residential properties, especially compound walls. But the NMC’s town planning department did nothing.
Mayor on Thursday visited the spot and directed the civic administration to complete the procedure of land acquisition at the earliest and start the work of road widening without delay.
Tiwari also reviewed the development plan road between Zero Mile to Nagpur University building near Institute of Science College. The NMC’s public works department informed the mayor that the civic body has already completed the construction of the 700 metre DP road. However, the portion of road near Zero Mile Metro station is pending due to
MahaMetro.
Even shifting of pipeline work is also pending, the mayor was informed by the water works department’s executive engineer Manoj Gavnir.
The mayor directed the civic administration to approach MahaMetro to get the pending work completed without delay as the city is expecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit for naming Zero Mile Metro Station as Zero Mile Freedom Park Station during the 75th Independence day.
Tiwari also visited Netaji Subash Chandra Bose library in Khairpura and directed the civic administration to construct a new building in place of the dilapidated structure.
