BJP recalls Emergency, attacks MVA govt

Mumbai, Jun 25 (UNI) The opposition BJP on Friday observed the 46th anniversary of Emergency imposed in the country by former later prime minister Indira Gandhi and criticed the Maha Vikas Aghadi government for allegedly following the footprints and suppressing the peoples' voice.
Addressing a press conference at the party office, BJP chief spokespersons Keshav Upadhye said, “The Shiv Sena, which supports the emergency, is giving the experience of emergency to the people of the state in collaboration with the Congress. The voices of those who speak, write and agitate against the state government are being suppressed.”
''Sena, which supported the emergency for fear of arrest, is now in power in the state with the support of the Congress. The tripartite MVA government is reminiscent of an emergency,'' he remarked.
He further said, “The people of the state are now realizing the atrocities committed in the emergency and government repression. On June 25, 1975, the Congress declared a state of emergency in the country. By imposing an emergency, the Congress strangled freedom of expression.”
BJP Yuva Morcha has organized a statewide program on Friday to inform the younger generation about that “black festival”.
Former CM Devendra Fadnavis and state party president Chandrakant Patil took part in the event.
OBC Morcha State president Yogesh Tillekar and BJP Pradesh Yuva Morcha State president Vikrant Patil were also present.
