New recruits of the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regiment (JKLIR) took oath in the passing out parade at the army base on the outskirts of Srinagar on Friday, 25 June 2021. 624 young men from Jammu and Kashmir were formally inducted into the JKLIR post eleven months of training.
During the ceremony, new recruit Sahil Kumar was awarded the 'Sher-i-Kashmir Sword of Honour' by Lt Gen DP Pandey General-officer-Commanding (GOC), Chinar 15 Corps.
The JKLIR is an infantry regiment of the Indian Army that mostly consists of volunteers from the state of Jammu & Kashmir and ethnic groups from the state. The Infantry is considered to be one of the most decorated regiments of the Indian army. It has won 1 Param Veer Chakra and 3 Ashok Chakra.
