UNIST signs cooperation MoU with National Institute of Meteorological Sciences

On May 28, UNIST signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Meteorological Sciences (NIMS) for the strengthening of research capacity to support effective responses to climate change.

In the memorandum of understanding, the two organizations have pledged to deepen climate change research cooperation. In particular, they promised to cooperate in the following areas:

Centering around the Department of Urban Environmental Engineering, UNIST has been carrying out various research, concerning natural disasters and climate change. In addition, it has recently established the Platform of Integrated Monitoring Data: Fine Particle, as part of the R&D Project for the North-East Asian Fine Dust Response, initiated by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT).

The two organizations are expected to contribute to the analysis and prediction of yellow dust/haze (Korea Meteorological Administration) and fine dust (Ministry of Environment) via the sharing of observational research of real-world data and technologies for climate change monitoring and tracking, as well as the joint utilization of Fine Particle.
