TiE Women-2021, a global initiative aimed at embracing, engaging and empowering women entrepreneurs across the globe irrespective of the size of the enterprises, origin, standing or background gets rolled out virtually on Thursday.
53 aspiring entrepreneurs from across two Telugu states have participated in the program.
The talked about initiative of TiE Women 2021 was formally launched in March by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Government of India, G. Kishan Reddy at a function in Hyderabad.
It could not be rolled out immediately after its launch due to the second wave of the pandemic. Now as the situation improves, TiE Hyderabad has planned to roll out this year’s edition virtually.
Rashida Adenwala, TiE Hyderabad Board Member and TiE Women Chapter Lead took the members through a glance of the TiE Women 2020 program virtually on Zoom. She then outlined the 2021 program highlights in phase -1 which includes Global Pitch Competition 2021 for Women Entrepreneurs, the flagship program of TiE Women. It is a Competition that brings together winners from each of the TiE Chapters from around the world to a central location. Each chapter selects one winner, that goes to the global finale and up to three runners-up. The Pitch Competition was created to address the access to funding issue for women entrepreneurs and provide them with a platform for access to funding and investor contacts, she shared.
Kanika Radhakrishnan, Program Director – TiE Women Global briefed the participants about phase -2 of the program. She informed the audience that 1 winner and 3 runner-ups from the chapter level competition would be moved to Phase -2 of the program hosted by TiE Global in Dubai.
The Pitch Competition runs in two phases. Phase one, the local chapter level which goes up to August 31st.Phase two, the global level programs run through September. The Global Finals is scheduled to be held in October 2021.
Says Mr Manohar Reddy, Chairman, TiE Hyderabad is a sector-agnostic program, focused on women entrepreneurs, irrespective of the size of their enterprises, origin, standing or background. This program consists of the Regional & Global Competition. Finalists from TiE Hyderabad Regional Competition will be nominated for a fully-paid journey to Dubai and opportunity to pitch at TiE Global Summit in December 2021 & a chance to win $135,000 worth of prize money, which is cumulative for 3 Winners & pitching to VC’s and much more. 3 Runners up from Regional Competition would get an opportunity to attend boot camp in India, all expenses paid.
Nandita Sethi, Founder – The Entrepreneur zone, said that “there is a certain madness around a start-up but there is also a certain method around the madness” while speaking on the topic ‘Success factors for start-up’. She further called the aspiring participants to enrol in the program to reap maximum results in their start-up journeys.
The TiE Women Global competition was launched in 2020. At the Chapter level, TiE Hyderabad impacted 76+ Women Entrepreneurs under this Program. This year too we already have 30+ Women-Led Entrepreneurs registered for the Program and we hope to have many more registrations, as the last date for applying is 30th June 2021, it is stated.
This year the TiE Hyderabad Chapter is offering to the women-led / co-led startups who are willing to join the programme, Associate Membership of TiE Hyderabad at a discounted fee. The membership will entail them to an Entrepreneur Development Program, networking, pitching and mentoring opportunities throughout the year.
