
The McFaddin-Ward House (MWH) has selected Victoria Tamez as its next curator of collections.
“Since our doors opened in 1986, the vast collections of the McFaddin-Ward House have been nationally recognized,” Tony Chauveaux, MWH executive director, said in a statement. “I’m incredibly excited that Victoria Tamez has agreed to join our team and continue the long tradition of excellence in the care and management of over 35,000 objects in the McFaddin-Ward House collections.
Tamez recently graduated from Texas Tech University with a Master’s of Arts degree in heritage and museum sciences. She received her Bachelor’s of Arts degree in history from Our Lady of the Lake University.
Previously, Tamez worked as the acting collections manager for the history division of the Museum of Texas Tech University and served as a graduate assistant. She also worked as a research assistant at Our Lady of the Lake University, Center for Mexican American Studies and Research in San Antonio.
Golden Pass LNG has awarded its latest round of scholarships to high school graduates in the Port Arthur and Sabine Pass communities pursuing process technology degrees at Lamar Institute of Technology and Lamar State College - Port Arthur.
Recipients will receive full tuition as well as support services, career counseling, a Golden Pass employee mentor and opportunities to interact with the company throughout their training. Upon completion, participants will have the opportunity to interview with Golden Pass for a job in the company’s new LNG export facility.

Golden Pass LNG is hiring 200 new, direct employees to operate its new LNG export facility, which is expected to be operational in 2024.
Education First Federal Credit Union also announced scholarship recipients for the graduating class of 2021.
The credit union personally presented $1,000 scholarships to 36 local high school seniors in Southeast Texas.
The credit union has been distributing scholarships since 1999. This year’s round of scholarships in Southeast Texas brings its total investment in local students to $587,000.
