Hyundai just launched the Alcazar in the Indian market. It is going to compete with other 7-seater SUVs such as MG Hector Plus and Tata Safari.

The SUV segment is very competitive right now and the Alcazar is already priced higher than the competitors.

This happened because Hyundai is not offering a base variant with the Alcazar. Even the lower-spec variant is very well equipped with features and being a Hyundai, the Alcazar has first in the segment that both of its competitors do not offer. Here, are 10 such features that the Alcazar offers and Tata Safari/MG Hector do not.

Driver rearview monitor

The driver rearview monitor allows the driver to see the rear view of their vehicle while driving forward. This is different from a rear parking camera. It uses the feed from the rear camera and projects in the infotainment system so you do not need to put your car into reverse gear.

This can be helpful in situations when you are in a parking lot or in a traffic jam or at a traffic light. This helps in monitoring if there is a kid or any motorcycle right behind your vehicle.

Rear sunshades

Hyundai is also offering sunshades for the rear occupants that too as standard. They are manually operated but it would protect the rear occupants from the sun’s glare and heat. It would also help in cooling down the rear half of the cabin faster as the cabin will be cooler because of the sunshades. The rear sunshades also provide privacy to the rear occupants. So, if the rear occupant is a VIP, the sunshades can be helpful.

Seatback tables

Hyundai has mounted tables on the seatbacks of the front seats. So, the rear occupants can use the tables in their office or they can even have their food on them. The seatback tables also come with a retractable cupholder. When the tables are not in use, you can just fold them back and they will not interfere with the leg space.

Ambient lighting

Yes, we know that the MG Hector Plus does come with ambient lighting but it offers only eight colours to choose from and Tata Safari also comes with mood lighting. However, Alcazar takes it up a notch higher by offering 64 colours to choose from. The ambient lighting has been integrated into the crash pad and the front and rear doors. You can configure the ambient lighting from the infotainment system.

Fully digital instrument cluster

MG offers the Hector Plus with a 7-inch screen that sits between the analogue gauges and the Tata does a similar thing with the Safari. The Safari comes with a 7-inch infotainment system with an analogue speedometer. On the other hand, the Alcazar comes with a fully digital instrument cluster that measures a massive 10.25-inches. Even the lower variants get a 7-inch supervision cluster.

Air Purifier

As we know, that the air quality of our world is degrading. Many people have started buying aftermarket air purifiers in their cars. Hyundai offers an integrated air purifier with an AQI display flush mounted in the centre console. So, when you start the air conditioning of the Alcazars, eventually you would be able to see the AQI index fall as the air quality improves.

Paddle shifters

This feature is aimed towards people who want to have a bit of fun with their SUV. If you opt for the automatic variant then you get paddle shifters mounted behind the steering wheel which you can use to manually take control of the gearbox.

Rear Central Console

This is the first time that we are seeing a dedicated central console for the rear occupants. You can only get the rear centre console if you opt for the captain seats. The rear central console houses cupholders, some storage and you can use it as an armrest also.  The central console really gives a premium touch to the cabin of the Alcazar.

2nd-row wireless charger

The second-row central console also has an in-built wireless charger. So, the rear occupants can also charge their mobile device wirelessly if it supports wireless charging. Until now, no other SUV in the segment has done this.

Blind View Monitor

The Alcazar comes with a Blind View Monitor. There are cameras mounted on the side of the car too. So, when you put on the turn signal, a camera feed is directly projected in the digital instrument cluster that shows what is in your blind spot. This is a very useful feature and can be very helpful in changing lanes.
