Surfside Building Collapse Video Shows Dramatic Moment Condo Caves In

A dramatic video captured the moment part of a 12-story beachfront condo collapsed in Florida early Thursday morning.

The 24-second clip was shared by talk show host Andy Slater on his Twitter page on Thursday.

A wing of the Champlain Tower in Surfside collapsed in the early hours, killing at least one person and trapping residents in rubble.

Rescuers pulled 35 people from the building and were continuing to search for more, Raide Jadallah, assistant fire chief of operations for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, said at a news conference.

Surfside Mayor Charles Burkett warned that the building manager informed him that the tower was quite full and the death toll was likely to rise.

"The building is literally pancaked," he said. "That is heartbreaking because it doesn't mean to me that we are going to be as successful as we wanted to be in finding people alive."

This is a breaking news story and will be updated.
