Meet the last Vax-a-Million winners: Cincinnati's Esperanza Diaz and Cuyahoga County's Sydney Daum

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine will meet the winners of the fifth Vax-a-Million drawing today at 10 a.m. Esperanza Diaz of Cincinnati won $1 million and Sydney Daum of Cuyahoga County won a four-year college scholarship. 

Diaz and Daum are the final winners of the Vax-a-Million contest. 

Week 1 winners: Abigail Bugenske won Ohio's first Vax-a-Million drawing.

Week 3 winners: Union County's Mark Cline and Lorain County's Sara Afaneh

Week 4 winners: Cincinnati's Sean Horning is the Vax-a-million scholarship winner

While Ohio saw a 40% week-to-week increase after the Vax-a-Million drawing was announced, first doses have started to slow, from nearly 187,000 across all age groups in that initial week to 54,733 for the week ending June 16. 

As of June 23, 48% of people in Ohio have received at least one dose of the vaccine, totaling 5,582,498 people, and 44% of people in Ohio are fully vaccinated, totaling 5,112,670 people. 

DeWine has said more incentives to get the shot are planned but has not yet announced any details.
