Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on June 24 ordered probe into the alleged financial irregularities at the Mother Old Age Home situated at Hatigaon in Guwahati.
Dispute between two of the founders of Mother Old Age Home, a well-known centre for the elderly in Guwahati, embroiled into a crisis for the dwellers. The old age home was founded in 2012 by Utpal Harshavardhan and Monica Sharma.
Taking strong note of the unexpected turn of events, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on June 24 ordered a probe into the latest developments.
Chief Minister Sarma directed deputy commissioner of Kamrup Metro to inquire into the unseemly circumstances and submit report within 72 hours.
He also asked Social Welfare minister Ajanta Neog to personally monitor the entire developments and take appropriate steps accordingly.
