Nashik, Jun 23 (UNI) A three-year-old girl was killed after being attacked by a leopard at Kananwadi village in Igatpuri forest reserve of the district.
The girl, Gauri Gurunath Khadke, was sitting near the door of a house in Kananwadi village on Tuesday evening, when the
leopard suddenly attacked her and dragged her to the forest in front of her parents and grandfather.
Seeing this, the family members started shouting and ran behind the leopard to free the girl.
After some distance, the leopard left the girl in the bushes of Gurtule and headed towards the forest.
Injured girl was taken to the rural hospital at Ghoti for treatment, from where she was transferred to the district hospital in Nashik.
However, the girl succumbed to injuries during treatment this evening, medical officials said.
The Forest department has appealed the villagers to take precaution while visiting the leopard-prone areas.
