Former Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre set to join Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace is set to announce Lucien Favre as their new manager.

Crystal Palace is reportedly set to announce former Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre as the club’s new manager.
Talks over making the 63-year-old Roy Hodgson’s successor are at an advanced stage and only an unexpected collapse of the deal will now prevent Favre from taking over at Selhurst Park. Hodgson resigned from his post at the end of the season and since then Crystal Palace has been in search of a new manager.

Talks over the Swiss coach’s backroom team are now underway. The club has also started the process of securing Favre a work permit – but both issues are understood to be a formality. The Eagles’ seven-week search for a new boss following Hodgson’s departure at the end of last season will come to an end following Favre’s expected appointment. Palace considered appointing various managers including the likes of Steve Cooper, Eddie Howe, Frank Lampard and Sean Dyche but was reported to be in advanced talks with Nuno Espirito Santos, however talks with Santos broke down due to the Portuguese’s demands. Nuno left Molineux after four successful seasons with the Midlands club. During these seasons he guided them to promotion from the Championship in 2018. But a 13th-placed finish and poor form in last season led to him leaving the club by “mutual agreement” at the end of the campaign.
Favre’s most recently managed Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund and worked with the likes of Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho. He has also managed Borussia Mönchengladbach FC and Nice FC.
