France enacts decree on investment obligations for SVoD platforms

The French government has published the decree implementing an important part of the country's planned reform of the audiovisual sector, with the introduction of new rules that require Netflix and other SVoD platforms to contribute to French and European content productions. Based on these obligations, effective from 01 July, the minimum investment is set at 20 percent of annual revenues generated in France, rising to 25 percent for SVoD platforms that take advantage of the shortest movie release windows (less than twelve months after the cinema release).
