Microsoft Windows Event 2021: The reign of Windows 10 is about to end. Microsoft is hosting a special event today wherein it is expected to announce ‘what’s next for Windows.’ If reports and leaks are any indication, it is expected to be Windows 11.

Now, Microsoft hasn’t confirmed anything yet. However, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, back at the company’s Microsoft Build developer conference, had said that the company plans to announce the next version of Windows. He had also said that this would be “one of the most significant updates of Windows of the past decade.”

Microsoft will be hosting its Microsoft Windows 2021 event virtually today. The event will begin at 11AM Eastern Time or 8:30PM Indian Standard Time. Microsoft has already confirmed this via updates on its official Twitter handle. You can watch the event live on Microsoft’s website.

Microsoft Windows Event 2021: What to expect?

As mentioned before, Microsoft is expected to launch the Windows 11 desktop operating system at its upcoming event. Windows 11 is expected to feature major upgrades over the existing Windows 10 operating system. As per the recent reports, Windows 11 is likely to feature a revamped UI, a brand new start menu, and a redesigned taskbar. Reports also indicate that Windows 11 is expected to be closer kin to Windows 10X, whose development has already been scrapped by the company.

Reports also indicate that Windows 11 will be free to download for Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 users. Users running their devices on Windows 8 will first have to upgrade to Windows 8.1 in order to get the update for free.
