Thane, Jun 24 (UNI) Three people were killed and a nine-year-old girl was injured in collision between a two-wheeler and a tractor on the Mumbai-Nashik highway
The incident occurred on Wednesday near the Vashind-Khativali village on the highway, in which three riders on the two-wheeler died on the spot and the vehicle itself was a total wreck, police said.
The bodies were sent to the government hospital at Shahapur for postmortem while the girl was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai for treatment.
The tractor was on its way from Mumbai to Nashik while the two-wheeler was coming from the opposite direction.
The Vashind police have arrested the tractor driver, Lallan Rai, in this connection and registered an offence under Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act against him.
The deceased have been identified as Ajnup Shirol, Ganpat Dagdu Waghe and Babu Madhu Fasale.
The local police are conducting further probe into the incident, sources added.
