Derrius Guice saw four misdemeanor counts dropped against him Wednesday after the former Washington running back reached a settlement with his former girlfriend.
In August, Guice was arrested for three separate domestic violence-related incidents spanning from February to April 2020 and faced charges of assault and battery and destruction of property. Guice was accused of pushing his then-girlfriend to the ground, destroying her phone and strangling her. The accusations led Washington to release him upon arrest.
A judge in Loudoun County, Virginia, dropped the charges after attorneys for the resulting parties showed there was an agreement in place for a settlement.
In a statement given to WTOP, the attorneys from the case asked to respect their client’s privacy.
“They have been worked hard toward a resolution of their relationship and appreciate the input and consideration of the Commonwealth,” the statement read. “They both wish that the other, now and in the future does well and that both can move on from this difficult process.”
Guice was out of the NFL last season. After his release, the 24-year-old was accused by two women in a USA Today report who said they were raped by the running back while in college at LSU — though Guice has not been charged with any crime.
In March, a 74-year-old woman accused Guice of sexually harassing her at a sporting event in 2017. Upon the accusation, LSU stripped Guice of all his college statistics and banned him from the program indefinitely.
Guice, a 2018 second-round pick, appeared in just five games for Washington — rushing for 245 yards on 42 carries. His time with the franchise was mostly defined by injuries that cut each of his two seasons short.
