Puducherry, Jun 23 (UNI) Puducherry Lt Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Wednesday said that no cases of Delta plus Coronavirus variant were reported in the union territory.
Talking to news persons on the sidelines of a function organised to hand over several equipment received from some organisations to combat Covid 19, the LG said that one lakh persons got vaccinated in the Vaccination festival held here.
A private commercial institution had announced ten percent discount for those who were vaccinated, she said, adding that the UT is prepared to face the third wave at a time when there is opinion that the third wave will come and will not come.
Mutated Delta plus virus was detected in some states and it was not there in Puducherry, she said.
Even when maximum relaxation in lockdown was given, the coronavirus cases are declining, she said, adding that everyone should be very careful even in this stage and everyone should get vaccinated to protect themselves from Covid.
The Puducherry administration is prepared to protect children from Covid attack, she said.
Dr Soundararajan said that she held talks with Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin on the expansion of the Puducherry Airport.
Expansion of Puducherry airport will benefit Puducherry as well as Tamil Nadu and tourism will also improve, she added.
