Samsung supposedly has prepped two new smartwatches that it could launch as soon as next week. These watches are said to be the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4, the sequels to the Galaxy Watch 3 and the Galaxy Watch Active 2.

So far plenty of leaks and rumors have revealed a lot about these two wearables and now an even bigger leak is throwing out more details on one of the smartwatches, including its first look.

The tech blog Giznext in collaboration with the known leakster @OnLeaks has shared the renders of the Galaxy Watch Active 4, one out of the two smartwatches. You’d notice Samsung appears to have chosen minimalism over any fancy additions in terms of design. Overall, there are a few design changes here and there but they are quite significant.

Comparing the upcoming smartwatch against the previous model side by side will show you the rubber strap is now clinging directly to the watch. There doesn’t seem to be any clamp/faster around the circular watch, or it is possible there the watch boasts some new kind of fasteners. The shape of the buttons has also been changed from being thicker in shape to now being thinner to match the overall aesthetics. However, the buttons are as protruding as the ones on the last year’s model appear.

The strap also looks a bit wider and flatter, unlike the strap design of the previous watch. This might be due to the strap is made of rubber or silicone. It is unknown if the Galaxy Watch Active 4 will also have a leather strap just like its predecessor. But, considering the design of the watch, it doesn’t look like there is one.

One more apparent thing is the absence of a physical rotating bezel. According to the blog post, the frame of the Galaxy Watch Active 4 is made up of aluminum and it comes in two sizes – 40mm and 44mm. The leak also mentions the Galaxy Watch Active 4 will arrive in four different colors – Black, Silver, Green, and Gold. But the folks over at SamMobile point out that the gold variant shown in one of the renders is incorrect. It will actually be a rose gold/ pink gold shade similar to the previous model.

Moving on, the new watch is said to be running a new unified Wear platform that has been built with Google. This is something that has been in speculation for a long time now. Other details fed by the collaboration include the new 5nm processor, display protected by a flat 2D glass, and narrow bezels.

The report states Samsung could launch the new Galaxy Watch Active 4 at its scheduled June 28 event, at MWC 2021.
