Govt will observe 'International Day' against drug abuse and illicit trafficking on June 26

Chandigarh, Jun 23 (UNI) The Haryana government will observe 'International Day' against
Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26.
On this day youth will be made aware of drug misuse through online platform.
An official spokesman said the 'International Day' against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is observed every year on June 26, across the world. On this day, awareness is spread regarding drug misuse, especially among the youth.
He said in view of the current COVID-19 Pandemic situation, the government has banned organising of crowd gathering programmes, therefore directions have been given to the Education, Health and Family Welfare Department to send messages to the people through social media, banner-hoarding etc to make the society aware of the misuse of drug abuse and illegal smuggling.
The aim of organising this virtual awareness programme is to spread awareness among people about the illicit smuggling of drugs and the harm caused by their consumption and the dangers associated with it.
